Hey guys... I just bought round trip tickets to New Orleans! Yeah, it's early, but if you book now on Southwest, it's dirt cheap -- $80 each way, if you stay an extra night and don't come home until Jan. 2. So... I expect to see you all there ;)

MALSM Newsletter

Well, my Lutheran friends, it's that time of the year again -- time to make the newsletter! As always, I'm looking for people willing to write some articles. We'll probably have an article for each event MALSM hosted/participated in this year, plus some general topics -- ministry, what it means to you to be a Lutheran, what LSM has done for you, finding your vocation (and I don't just mean for you pre-sem folks), service, your love of cheese, etc. If any of these topics interest you, please email me and volunteer! I want as many people to be a part of this as possible, since it's our newsletter, not mine. ;) And if I don't get volunteers, I'll just have to start drafting people. You really don't want that to happen.

New MALSM shirts

I made a new design, with a map highlighting malsm, and have a nice little storefront at cafeexpress. You should check it out.....there are green, orange, and pink, but not all available in all shapes and sizes. Stupid rules. There's a $1 price markup to benefit LSM. I have the same things for all other regions, but I haven't gotten the stores up and running yet.

Intrigued, aren't you? Well, actually I've been working on some that I've created on CafePress...they're not MALSM specific, yet. In fact I'm wondering if I'm going to get in trouble for making lsm-usa shirts without someone's "permission" - but I'm planning to follow the same protocol as LSM-USA's shop, and one dollar of every sale (or 50 cents from the sticker) goes to MALSM.

Go check it out, I'll have an even cooler design up soon.

Oh, Lutheran humor. This is one of the user-made shirts at zazzle (where I would like to make shirts that say "See more of me at hotlutherans.com" on a pink ringer tee). It's pretty expensive, though, and I might end up just screen printing myself one day. I'm sure I can learn it like every other craft I do.

A few reminders

As I sleepily sit here and digest my Chinese food, I wanted to remind you all of a few things.

1. You should go give blood! I tried to this morning, but I was a bit too dehydrated and not pumping very quickly. I should have known from how she couldn't even get the drip out of my finger to put in the blue stuff. Go look for a blood drive in your area at https://www.givelife.org/Index.cfm? and make sure to drink a ton of fluids for a few days before you go in.

2. You can look at the MALSM pictures from all of our events at http://malsm.shutterfly.com - organized by event (but event folders are not chronilogical...it seems to get mad at me when I try to do that). If you have any pictures from any events that are NOT up there, you can just drop them in yourself!

3. That was really it, but I just thought there should be a 3 as well. Let's see, 3 will be to bring a non-MALSM involved friend to the next retreat (or the one after that) to immerse them into the craziness that we all share. I can't come to the Eastern MALSM retreat, so I will just trust that you will bring someone.

Guys, it was SO much easier when you all were helping me in San Dee! It felt like it took forever this time, AND I had some proper tools. It's not quite done, but it will do for this weekend!
I'm sewing in a GPS locator in case it gets lost again. Then I think we need to add a white ribbon on the outside and add the names of our schools, with enough room left over for new additions.
